Ridnaun Valley
The great variety of South Tyrol in one Valley
The Ridnaun/Ridanna Valley (otherwise known simply as Ridnaun) is an 18-kilometre long side-valley leading to the upper Eisack/Isarco& Wipptal Valleys at Sterzing/Vipiteno. Ridnaun is bordered to the south by the Jaufen/Giovo mountain, to the north by the Stubai Alps. The valley is one of three valleys together with the Ratschings/Racines Valley and the Jaufen Valley which belong to the district of Ratschings. The western end of the valley is marked by the Schneeberg, which is famed for its 900-year long mountain-mine history and as the highest-located mountain mines in Europe. Here at the end of the Ridnaun valley, you will find the Hotel Schneeberg – Family Resort & Spa at around 1.417 m a.s.l. Alongside the countless hiking and activity opportunities in the Ridnaun Valley, the community of Ratschings, which comprises the Ridnaun, Jaufen and Ratschings Valleys, offers any number of cultural activities and sights worth seeing.
